Driving through the rain on the way to Waharoa visions of the last attempt at club champs on our way home from Rotorua was fresh in our minds. As we drove closer to the track conditions improved and we were ready for another exciting days racing. Hayden Greenhalgh was debuting the 69 car in his first full race meeting. He was joined by Hayden Guptill, Nathan Howard, Ryan Barry, Nicholas Wells and Ben LeCren making his first appearance at Waharoa this season.
With the draw done and the boys reminded that their were two cars now with yellow ribbons to be aware of it was out onto the track for race one. Hayden Greenhalgh had a bad start to his first race with the car not running. Ryan took good advatage of his pole position with Hayden making a well timed dive from grid three to put himself into second on the first corner. This chase went on for a coule of laps until they settled into their positions. Meanwhile behind them a great battle was going on between Nathan and Ben that lasted the whole race. Ryan took out the opening win followed by Hayden Guptill, Ben, Nathan and Nicholas.

Race two saw Hayden Guptill take advantage of his pole position with Ryan soon up into second. As the race progressed Ryans car got sicker and sicker. It meant he was holding up the rest of the field allowing Hayden to take a good lead. Ryan then pulled off allowing Ben and Nathan to continue the battle that they had started the race before. Drama unfolded on the white flag with the Nathan and Ben coming up on Hayden Greenhalgh who had drifted up the track the tow boys went to pass him and at the last minute Ben realised he was about to pass around the inside of a cadet. He headed to the outside allowing Nathan to get away. Hayden Guptill won followed by Nathan, Ben, Hayden Greenhalgh, and Nicholas with Ryan on the infield.
Race three saw Ben take advantage of his front row start and take an early lead. All the action was going on behind him. Hayden Guptill, Ryan and Nathan were battling hard for second with Hayden Greenhalgh and Nicholas picking up their pace with every lap. As the miss reappeared in Ryans car, Hayden Guptill finally managed the pass around the outside and was soon followed by Nathan. Ben looked like he had the race won with Hayden Guptill sitting in behind him. On the last corner Ben made a small mistake allowing Hayden to come through and take the win closely followed by Ben, Nathan, Ryan, Hayden Greenhalgh and Nicholas. This race saw Hayden Greenhalgh not get lapped and showing great improvement as the day went on.
Hayden Guptill took out the Waharoa Club Champs with Ben coming in second with Nathan one point behind Ben in a day long battle between these two. Former Kiwikid Jarrod Guptill took second in the ministock club champs.
Coming up is Rosebank Rd onthe 28th followed by Kaikohe at Easter. It is still not too late to send your entry up to run at Easter.
