With the Les Behere and ANZAC youth and Veterans day being rained off at Wahaora it was off to Rosebank for the Auckland champs. With the weather not that great around the Auckland area six cars chose to attend this meeting. All afternoon there was not a drop of rain all day at the track. The rain overnight and earlier in the week presented us with a great track and the boys didnt disapoint with some great racing. Race one saw Jarrod Guptill manage to get to the front from grid three. In order to secure the pass on Ryan Barry it took two laps of side by side racing before Jarrod could make the pass stick. Jarrod took the win from Ryan followed by Ben Le Cren, Breyton Davidson, Morgan McHugh and Nathan Howard. Race two saw Jarrod take the lead off the start never to be challenged. With Ben fiercly defending the poleline held onto second with Ryan trying everything to get by but was unable to. They were followed home by Morgan, Nathan and Breyton. Race three saw Ryan and Jarrod off the front row. Wirh Jarrod again making the start Ryan was on his tail the whole race again trying all of his tricks to be able to pass but Jarrod held on with Ryan, Ben, Nathan, Morgan and Breyton folowing them home. This allowed Jarrod to take the Auckland champs with a clean sweep of wins followed by Ryan and Ben. The feature was run with an Indian file start and Ben kept his lead for about four of the six laps and spinning coming off turn four giving Ryan the lead. This allowed Ryan and Jarrod to battle for the lead. This time it was Jarrod pulling all his tricks out of the bag. With a final lunge up the inside Jarrod was uanble by a wheel to make the pass. They were followed home by Breyton who got his first podium finish then Nathan, Morgan and Ben. The racing was great with some fantastic passing and a very impressive display by the three cadets. With the next meeting being the Les Behere trophy at Waharoa on May 10 (weather permiting) then Rosebank on May 17 followed by Taipa at Queens Birthday weekend |
