With the ANZAC champs being taken out by Ryan Barry with Hayden Guptill and Nathan Howard follwing him home.  Soon after the Auckland Champs were held at Rosebank with Ryan and Hayden again taking out the top two places followed home this time by Morgan McHugh.

With these meetings out of the way it was off to the Quarter Midgets traditional last meeting up at Taipa.  On Friday afternoon everyone headed to the top of the North Island to settle into thier accomodation.  Then it was off to the Mangonui fish shop for the clubs annual visit to this Northland Icon.  One end of the shop was taken over with Quarter Midget families.  With all stomachs nice and full it was back to everyones accomodation to rest up for the final pair of race meeting for the year.

Saturday saw threatening wheather after some overnight rain but eight keen Quarter Midget kids rocked up to the track with our pit spot secured overlooking the track.  After a wheel pack where the kids got to go out on the track the first time for the weekend it was time again to watch Kevin attempting to dry out the track on the quad.  Fianally the kids got out to race.  With Breyton taking a big advantage of his front row grid and leaping out to a big lead.  Further back in the pack Ryan was making his way from grid 6 up to second.  Behind them a great battle developed over a few laps with Nathan and Hayden Guptill.  After a few laps Hayden came out on top after copming from the back with Breyton taking the win followed by Ryan, Hayden Guptill, Nathan, Ben, Mitch, Morgan and Hayden Greenhaugh getting his first race on the red Taipa clay.

As the second round was getting close to the kids down came the rain and an early finish to the days racing was called with an early start for Sunday.

With overnight rain confidence was not high of the chance to go racing again.  Still all eight cars appeared ready to race.  The call was made to wheel pack and Hayden Guptill was the first car of all types on the track.  Ben LeCren told Hayden that if he was able to do a lap he would join him.  Hayden completed a very sideways lap and soon afterwards was followed out by Ben and Mitch Watts.  Then the bigger wheel cars fianlly decided to come and help the kids wheel pack.  The other five cars saw how much fun the three boys were having slipping and sliding thier way around the track that it didn't take long for all eight quarters to be out on the track along with Kevin on his quad.

With wheelpacking completed away went the racing.  But in a repeat of the end of last year just as the kids strapped into their cars for thier second race of the weekend down came the heavy rain that ended the weekend.  It was then only waiting for Kevin to finish playing on the quad then out went the kids on thier feet to slide all  over the track. Another fun weekend was had up North and we all have our fingers crossed for better weather next year.

With only Prizegiving and the AGM to go to complete the season rebuild time is upon us.
