A week only until the opening meeting of the year at Rosebank Road. Ryan Barry has been the only car to run so far. Breyton Davison, Nathan Howard and Ben Le Cren are also ready but the weather has kept them off the dirt to date. Hayden Guptill is facing a battle against the clock to get to the opening meeting but has his fingers crossed that everything will come together for a last minute greensheet to get him there. Mitch Watts, Mellisssa Baker and Morgan McHugh are all still a few weeks away from appearing. With Andrew Hanson choosing not to appear at Rosebank this year hopefully we will see him at the first Springs practice on October 17.
With works on the training car a couple of weeks away form completion we hope to have the first couple of people through the car by the end of October.
So if you are looking forward to your first fix of racing for the year we will see you all on Sunday October 11 at Rosebank Rd. Racing starts at 1pm. |

With three cars greensheeted and one having run on Rosebank today the new season has arrived.
Ryan Barry has had his first Rosebank run in the ex Taylor Clarke car looking sharp in its new colours. With Nathan Howard and Breyton Davison also having their cars greensheeted and ready, race time is here. The Ben LeCren car is back from the signwriters and off for some modifications. Hayden Guptill in his big brothers old car is part way through the reassembly. Mitch Watts car is stripped down ready for a rebuild. Andrew Hanson is slowly having his car reassembled. Morgan McHugh will be back in the ex Troy Kete car that has had a major rebuld and will be barely recognisable. With Mellissa Baker having some minor changes to her car as well. With young Nicholas Wells just waiting for signwriting to happen so he can get going at Waharoa. Also keep a lookout at the speedshow this weekend for the Breyton Davison Quarter Midget on display in all its glory.
With only the Waihi Beach and Huntly dates to be confirmed the calendar is in place ready for the new season. With a couple of runs already organised for the training car, which is also getting a freshen up with thanks to Harris Racecars and Elf Lubricants, hopefully we will see some of these keen youngsters in the driving ranks very soon.
Any further cars requiring greensheeting can contact Andrew Watts to organise this. There is also an opourtunity for all drivers to get liscensed either online or on this Tuesday night at Western Springs.
There is also an oppourtunity to get noise tested at Rosebank on Saturday 26 Spetember from 1pm. All cars will be required to be noise tested at Rosebank to ensure they comply to the SNZ noise limits.
Heres looking forward to another great seasons racing by our future champions. |

With 11 cars making a great finish to the season at Taipa, it was time to celebrate the seasons success at the prizegiving. With six new drivers receiving thier first trophies for being part of our club the future is looking good. It was also an oppourtunity to say farewell from quarters to Jarrod Guptill and Taylor Clarke, we wish them all the best and hopefully look forward to seeing them blasting around the Springs in their choose of car.
Once prizegiving was completed it was time for the AGM. With the only change to the officers was Kevin Barry taking over from the long serving Ivan Kete as club captain. A big welcome to Shaun McHugh on the committee.
With the Springs and Rosebank calendars having been released and a draft of Waharoas calendar, the new seasons calendar will be released after being finalised at the next committee meeting on 25 August.
With Chassis starting to return from the powder coaters and engines being freshened up, another season must be just around the corner.
The first noise testing is at Rosebank on September 5 so the off season is just about over. |

On the back of the unfortunate news that the Rangeview club wouldn't allow us to race for the Les Behere trophy up at Taipa, eight cars headed to Rosebank for the final Auckland meeting of the season. Morgan McHugh and Mellissa Baker had their yellow ribbons removed and were gridded up ready to race. Race one saw Jarrod Guptill take the win from Ryan Barry who made a great pass around the outside of Benjamin Lecren. Race two saw Ryan take off from the front followed by Mitchell Watts then Jarrod Guptill. |

With the Les Behere and ANZAC youth and Veterans day being rained off at Wahaora it was off to Rosebank for the Auckland champs. With the weather not that great around the Auckland area six cars chose to attend this meeting. All afternoon there was not a drop of rain all day at the track. The rain overnight and earlier in the week presented us with a great track and the boys didnt disapoint with some great racing. Race one saw Jarrod Guptill manage to get to the front from grid three. In order to secure the pass on Ryan Barry it took two laps of side by side racing before Jarrod could make the pass stick. Jarrod took the win from Ryan followed by Ben Le Cren, Breyton Davidson, Morgan McHugh and Nathan Howard. |

With a night that had Jarrod Guptill and Taylor Clarke having their last nights in Quarter Midgets at Western Springs and Nathan Howard and Morgan McHugh making their racing debuts it was great to see former Kiwikidz competitors sweeping the podium in the NZ TQ champs. With Shane O'Conner emulating his brother Ryans feat from a few years ago to completely dominate the final race of the TQ champs followed home by Hayden Williams and Brock Masckivitch. This is great example of drivers taking the skills they have learnt driving Quarter Midgets and taking them onto to excel in their chosen field of motorsport. |

As February approached and the International midgets were arriving in town, A couple of quarters were arriving in Auckland to try to defend their hold on the Shane Turner Memorial North v South Trophy. The series was broken up into three sections with the top points scorer overall winning the trophy for their island. The first section was dominated by Taylor Clark with Mathew Leversedge holding up the Christchurch end of things with a win on the second night. The second section was a Rosebank meeting with Jarrod Guptill dominating here. The racing was fierce and a great show was put on by the kids from both islands. After this it was clsoe at the top with Ryan Barry and Campbell Christie leading things for the North Island and Mathew Leversedge holding up the South Island end. |

Saturday arrived with a sweltering hot day and another new person in the training car. Once we arrived at Waharoa the five cars had a very diiferent look about them. With regulars Ryan Barry and Andrew Hanson being joined by Hayden Guptill taking over big brothers car for the day. Also there were first timers in Stephen Appleton and Nicholas Wells. With Stephen coming from a karting background it was looking like and interesting day. Race one saw the quarters head out onto a very wet track. This race broke up into two battles with Andrew taking the lead with Ryan in pursuit. Ryan made a great pass coming off turn four to take the lead and Andrew was unable to pull him back in. Meanwhile further back a very similar battle was going on with Hayden and Stephen. Stephen took a number of laps and finally made a very well managed pass on turn four to take third ahead of Hayden. |
