With Ryan Barry dominating the last Springs meeting with a couple of wins, Breyton Davison doing the the same at the last Rosebank meeting, Hayden Guptill showing the same sort of dominance at the clubs first visit to the Patetonga track, and Ben LeCren fresh off a win at Ruapuna speedway, the racing looks to be exceptionally close at Rotorua this weekend.
The boys had a great time at the Patetonga track last Staurday with an opourtunity to do single lap time trials and a pole shuffle in a day of fun. This is a fantastic track with a chance for the kids to run on a banked track. Everyone was impressed with the ability of the boys to just dial in straight away. Some great racing was had and the whole club looks forward to repeating the experience with the great people that run the facility.
This weekend we take a night off the Springs and head to Rotorua as part of minstocks in paradise. This gives Hayden, Breyton Davison and Nathan Howard and oppourtunity to run on another new track. With Ben LeCren and Ryan hoping to repeat their winning ways. Last year this was the venue for Bens first every victory. Andrew Hanson returns to this meeting after a year away. The boys are looking forward to putting on a great show over two nights with Waharoa club champs on the way home.

With a beautiful day dawning it was off to Rosebank for the final meeting there before Santa comes. Five cars turned up to battle on the Rosebank track. Hayden Guptill, Ryan Barry, Nathan Howard, Ben LeCren and Breyton Davison.
Race one was a very quiet race with the ononly excitment was Nathan turning it around and having to restart from the back. Ryan took the win from Breyton, Hayden, Ben and Nathan.
Race two saw the boys take off, this race saw some good racing early on until Hayden turned it around and Ryan had to follow suit to miss him. This put the two of them off the back on the restart. Ben LeCren was holding onto the pole and letting noone through to take the win, he was followed home by Nathan, Breyton, Ryan and Hayden finished with a flat right rear tire. This win was the end of Bens day as a clutch failure explained the last lap puffs of smoke and put him out for the rest of the day.

The weekend started with a first for the Kiwikidz Quarter Midget Club. We were in a Christmas parade. With Hayden Guptill, Ryan Barry, Mitch Watts and the training car all being towed by reindeer Kev through the streets of Howick. It was a great experience that we will be hoping to repeat next year.
The afternoon came and it was off to the Springs. We went out as race one as per normal and Hayden took the victory from Ryan, Andrew Hanson, Ben LeCren, Breyton Davison, Melissa Baker and Nathan Howard. As the night wore on the heavens opened and witht he best efforts of the promotion we were all headed home with only a few races run.
Sunday we awoke to the bad news that the Les Behere Memorial race had been cancelled at Waharoa due to the same bad weather that stopped the Springs meeting from being completed. Soon we were informed that the Springs were going to run the rest of the meeting from the night before. The quarters were put on standby depending on time. As the kids were in drivers briefing it was anounced that the Quarters would be first out. To see the joy on the kids faces was priceless.
Race one for Sunday night began with Hayden Guptill pulling to the infield. Nathan Howard took out his first win at the Springs followed home by Ryan, Melissa with her best ever result. then Andrew, Ben, and Breyton.

The next outing for the Quarters is an appearance in the Howick Santa Parade on Saturday morning. Then off to the Springs on Saturday night for our last meeting there before Boxing Day. Sunday brings the Les Behere Memorial trophy at Wahaora. Hoping all club members can atend and make this a special day. With qualifying and a 15 lap feature will make for an interseting day.

The first double header weekend was greeted with excitment about our return to Waharoa after rain meant only a couple of visits last year.
Seven cars rocked up to the Springs. The questions on everyones lips were could Ryan Barry and Hayden Guptill repeat their opening night wins or would Andrew Hanson on his return challenge them. Race one saw Ryan take off to an early lead. The rest of the pack followed Ben LeCren who looked like he was going to back up his opening night second placing. Again and again Hayden and Nathan Howard tried to take the placing off him but Ben was holding a true LeCren line on the pole. On the final corner Hayden managed to make a pass for second and Nathan made a dive to try and gain third place. Ben managed top hold onto third with a photo finish with Nathan close behind. They were followed home by Andrew and Melissa Baker.
Race two saw the back row of Ryan and Hayden dive around the field early and take off to a good lead. Andrew stayed in third to the line followed home by Nathan, Ben, Melissa and Morgan McHugh.

Opening night at the Springs saw seven cars take the grid. On the start Ryan Barry came through the pack to take and early lead followed closely by Hayden Guptill. After a couple of laps of close battling it was all for nothing as the officials had kept the yellow light on and the flags stayed green. On the restart Ryan again went to the front but this time Hayden suffered a mechanical failure joining Nathan Howard on the infield. Ben LeCren chased Ryan to finish second with Breyton Davison coming through from the back row to come in third followed by Melissa Baker and Morgan McHugh.
Race two saw Hayden take an early lead and Ryan quickly pulled in behind. They continued like this for the entire race with Ryan making up ground on the last lap but Hayden managed to hold on for his first ever win. They were followed again by Breyton who drove well to again come from the back was third follwed by Ben, Melissa and Morgan. Nathan managed to make repairs to the 71 car but was a few seconds to late to make it out the gate.
With the return of Andrew Hanson next weekend to add some compitition over a double header weekend which begins at the Springs. It concludes with the opening appearance of the quartes at Waharoa on Sunday.

After half a dozen cars practiced at the Springs on Saturday it was off to Rosebank on Sunday.
A beautiful day dawned as four cars took on Rosebank Rd again. With Breyton unable to race and Hayden Guptill at his first race meeting of the year after a couple of practices.
Race one saw Hayden take off from the fornt row until half way through the race he was turned around by Ryan Barry which sent Hayden to the rear of the field for the restart. Ryan took the win followed by Ben LeCren, Nathan Howard and Hayden.
Race two saw Ryan take off from the front row to be followed home by Nathan, Ben and Hayden.
Race three saw a great battle with Ben getting a great start. From this moment on a great battle developed with Ben holding a typical LeCren line on the pole and Ryan trying everything to get by. He was unable to do so and Ben took the win followed by Ryan, Nathan and Hayden.
The feature saw Nathan again unstoppable off the front row. Ryan chased him home followed by Ben who made a last lap pass to secure the final podium place from Hayden.
With opening night at the Spring next Saturday some of the closeness of the cars at the final practice we should see some good racing.
See you all the Springs next Saturday for opening night.

Huntly practice is now confirmed for this Saturday. Be there by 4pm for a 5pm start.
Also Waihi Beach is also added to the calendar on December 19. After what Ryan Jarrod and Hayden showed them last yeart will be great to take down a full field for the day to really put on a show.
With rain and the grader causing the Springs practice to be abandoned and rain not allowing Waharoa to open last weekend, everyone will be looking forward to some running this weekend.
Friday night has a Rosebank training night. There will be sound testing for all quarter midgets on this night. Nathan Howard, Breyton Davison and Ryan Barry will I'm sure get some more laps under their belts and Hayden Guptill will debut the newly numbered and coloured 27 car.
This night is open to all quarter midget to ensure everyone meets the required sound limits.
We are working with Huntly in order to try to attend their practice on Saturday night, this is now a go. If able to this will run from 5pm to 8pm. I Next weekend we have the first practice at the Springs on Saturday. You will need to be there for drivers briefing at 1pm. Practice gets underway at 2pm.
The next day brings us back to the Rosebank for their second meeting of the year. There should be another couple of cars ready so some good racing should follow after the great day had on opening day.
Look forward to seeing more cars get ready over the next couple of weeks.

With Ryan Barry showing his experience all day the day was highlighted by wins to Nathan Howard and Breyton Davison. These two achieved their very first wins in quarter midgets on a day that passing was very difficult. Ben Le Cren also started to get back into the groove with a solid days racing. With a fastest off the back format for the day it allowed everyone an opportunity to shine.
Race one saw Nathan and Breyton start off the front row. Ben and Ryan were off the back. Nathan quickly took off from the front and despite challenges from Ryan stayed in front to gain his first win. he was followed home by Ryan, Breyton and Ben.
